Creative Writing is an elective course available to take at AHS. (What can run) It promotes improving writing skills, exploring different ways to express ideas and learning with people who share the same interests you do. The teacher of this course, Shanci Garison, describes this class as a class designed for students who enjoy the elements and freedom of creative writing, love to tell stories, and want to stretch themselves through collaboration and meaningful feedback from peers who are like-minded. She also states that this class’s main goal is to deeply explore mentor texts and give students many opportunities to write from a variety of perspectives and genres. A current student in this class, Joy Mayo, states that her favorite thing about this course is the variety of assignments they cover. Students also express how their writing has improved since joining this course. It's a wonderful course for students who want an opportunity to explore different ways to express themselves, all while learning.
