Atoka Winter Guard had their first contest of the season on January 26 at Bishop Lynch High school. They competed against 11 other schools in their division, and they earned a score of 31.93. This year the Atoka Winter Guard added 6th graders to the program. There are seven people in the group. This year's show title is "Changed". The show consists of the song "Praying" by Kesha. When asked about the theme, the winter guard instructor Chrissy Olivieri stated, "Changed" is a lyrical style show about healing from a traumatic experience in life and coming out better on the other side. It features flag, swing flag, and ballet style dance moves." Their next competition will be February 23rd at Saginaw High School. We asked Chrissy what the focus is this year and she stated, "This year is focused on building the guard program along with focusing on perfecting our basic skills in our new members."
