The first-ever National Technical Honor Society induction ceremony was recently held at the Atoka High School cafetorium Jan 12, 2023. NTHS is an organization that recognizes the accomplishments of outstanding students and is one of the highest honors in Career and Technical Education. The motto of the NTHS is “success favors the prepared mind.” This organization awards over $300,000 in annual scholarships to its members. To become a member of the Atoka chapter, students must have a 3.4 GPA, be a leader in their career tech organization, be recommended by a career tech advisor, compete at career tech contests, and have obtained a career tech certification. Audrey McClour, a recent NTHS inductee, says she’s “honored to be part of a selective organization of leaders who desire to constantly improve themselves and others.” Ginger Cochran, Atoka’s NTHS historian also stated, “I’m proud to be in this diverse competitive chapter.” Faculty advisors for NTHS are Mrs. Regina Carr, Mrs. Sherri Meadows, Mr. Clay Edwards, and Mr. David Swift. The following students make up the first Atoka NTHS chapter: President- Abby Roland, Vice President- Sydney Rember, Treasurer- Tatum Usher, Secretary- Chance Krueger, Historian- Ginger Cochran, Shay Birchfield, Michael Carter, Gabby Clark, Reagan Cochran, Mason Denton, Karson George, Audrey McClour, and Pacer Pingleton.
