Ella and Mars during the show.
Our AHS agriculture students recently had their first pig show. I had the privilege of speaking to Ella Kinard, pictured on the left. I was curious to find out what it was that Ella found fun about showing, and she shared "I like showing because I enjoy working with animals. I also like that every show can be different."
When questioned about what had the ability to make every show different, Ella told me, "It depends on the judge and what they like." She also shared her difficult schedule, which includes arriving at 6:30 a.m. to bathe her pig. After that, it was time to head to the show, where she was ready to go at 8:00 a.m. The show itself started at 9:00 a.m., but Ella told me that, as someone who shows pigs, you need a lot of time to get prepared for a show.
Ella also shared that she has many shows left, so this is just the beginning for her and her pig, Mars. The AHS Newspaper is excited to see how the rest of this season's shows turn out!
