Emergencies

• Bites that break skin or cause bleeding/ bruising 

• Scratches a person severely, and the person is in immediate danger 

• Runs away 

• Acts extremely lethargic 

• Has difficulty breathing 

• Has blue or pale gums 

• Has tremors or seizures 

• Collapses suddenly 

• Is unable to stand or walk 

• Is unconscious 

• Vomits repeatedly with or without blood 

• Cannot keep food or water down 

• Has diarrhea repeatedly with blood 

• Has diarrhea paired with lethargy or vomiting 

• Experiences trauma (i.e. open wounds, broken bones) 

• Has a distended or bloated abdomen •

• May have been poisoned (i.e. ingestion, bite) 

• Is bleeding profusely from any body opening 

• Has tissue protruding from anus or vulva 

• Dog or cat has refused to eat or drink for more than 48 hrs 

• Puppy or kitten has refused to eat or drink for more than 8 to 12 hours

Non- Emergencies

• Scratches a person

• Refuses to eat during the first 24 hrs in your home.

• Vomits, hacks, or reverse sneezes (air is pulled in the nose)

• Has eye or nasal discharge

• Is sneezing

• Has itchy or irritated skin and hotspots

• Has ear debris or possible infection

• Is limping slightly or is stiff
