Farmers in partner communities are trained with a holistic approach to organic agriculture and farm establishment

The agricultural industry plays a key role in the Philippine economy and society. About 40% of Filipino workers are employed in this sector, contributing to an average of about 20% to the country's GDP, a major requirement of food security.

In recognizing and addressing the plight of local agricultural workers, Ateneo de Manila University addresses the plight of local agricultural workers and promotes food security and sustainable agriculture through its involvement with local farmers, food producers, and agribusinesses.

In collaboration with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and Gawad Kalinga-Ateneo, the university launched the School for Experiential and Entrepreneurial Development (SEED) which helps to ensure that farmers in their partner communities are trained with a holistic approach to organic agriculture through instruction, hands-on learning, and application that is undertaken in Gawad Kalinga- SEED’s three campuses in Bulacan, Bukidnon, and Davao.
