Have you heard of the saying,
Kapag walang tiyaga, walang nilaga?
Bilang mga anak ng ating mga magulang, we sometimes hear this from them to motivate us from our academic studies, sports, or other extracurricular activities.
Much like in the Gospel, it seemed like the servants reaped what they sowed. The first two servants doubled what was given them, and the master was pleased. However, the third servant did nothing but hid the one thousand coins entrusted to him, and so the master was displeased.
By telling this Parable of the Talents, Jesus is teaching us to nourish and develop whatever is given us by Him.
Let us heed the Master’s invitation (and our parents’ advice too!).
Let us identify and acknowledge our unique gifts, talents, and competencies from our Creator and God, share and put them into good use, lest we will not fully grow and mature as loving children of God.
