This award is given to individuals who have served as excellent models of leadership through their unique and significant contribution to the success of online learning, activities, and formation during the school year. These individuals (students, faculty, staff or maintenance, parents) have exemplified the Ignatian ideal of Magis in their untiring, humble, and effective service to the school community.
An Akay member since grade 8, Michael’s commitment to teach and bond with the students of Quirino Elementary School has shown his untiring, humble and effective service to this organization. Per his org head, “he is one of the best and most active tutors we have, and this is reflected on the quality of the materials he made and his teaching.” His being a dependable Kuya also extended to our grade 7 students when he was one of the speakers for the Grade 7 Guidance Special Program, Kuya Talks. Here, he inspired and encouraged the La Storta students through his heartwarming and well-thought-out talk about his experiences when he was still a new student to the school.
Leading the La Storta Creatives Team and being the Assistant head of the Sanggu Creatives Team, Michael generously shared his talents and leadership through the pubmats he created and the inputs he has given. The videos and logo that were used for the fair can also be added to his portfolio.
On top of his schoolwork and activities, Michael wholeheartedly accepted being a study buddy of his classmates who were struggling academically. He has always been willing to help his class. Being one of our scholars, Michael did not let adversities hinder him from doing his best. Instead, he made use of these to help, encourage and inspire others.
Rav is known to be outstanding in his leadership as Sanggu-JHS Chairman. On top of this, he was also an active member of Teatro Baguntao (TBT), and part of the basketball varsity team. His deep love to serve the school community has been Rav’s daily motivation to manage both his curricular and extracurricular activities altogether. Rav has been known as an exemplary student leader since grade 7. Some of the traits that have had an impact on Rav’s teachers and fellow students are his positive attitude towards any tasks that he put his heart into; his dedication to see that others succeed with him in academics or otherwise; and his humility in success.
Moreover, this school year, albeit unfavorable waters, he was able to steer the Sanggu successfully and launched several projects that have been beneficial to the indigents. This is no small feat considering our limitations. As Sanggu Chair, basketball player and an outstanding student, it is easy for someone to be intoxicated with all the accolades. But this is never true for master Rav. In fact, he has shown his level-headedness while tirelessly working as a student-leader and balancing his academic and extracurricular activities.
It can be said that Rav is the epitome of a role model of a student-athlete-leader. He is a leader who remains humble and constantly conscious that his passion for service is not for himself but only for the greater glory of God.
Aki is a servant leader, dedicating his work in the Council of Student Organizations (CSO) to create a better space for all students within the JHS. He not only participated in the CSO, but was equally active in his class leadership and in Kamalayan at Tinig ng Atenista (KaTA). He has carefully balanced his responsibilities in the said organizations and as a student.
Despite his heavy schedule as CSO Vice-Chair, he managed to provide time to help his organization with its major projects and to manage his time well for academics. Another outstanding service he played this year was being the speaker for KaTA's webinar entitled "The Hill We Stand On" wherein he inspired fellow students from across grade levels to become better student leaders by sharing his own story of struggles and successes.
Truly, Aki has served the school community in so many ways and exemplified untiring, humble and effective service, exceptional generosity, and servant leadership. But one is for sure, Aki has participated in all those responsibilities bearing in mind only the greater service and glory of God our Lord.
Dwyn has truly given his best and has done “the more” this school year both as a student and as a leader. For him, this year was about fulfilling his responsibilities as the ACO Vice-chair of the La Storta Cluster while actively participating in the rehearsals and activities of his org, Teatro Baguntao, and doing his best in his academics. It was not easy performing this balancing act, yet Dwyn was able to do this because of his dedication, his desire for excellence, and his sure sense of service that has become his anchor as a student leader.
As ACO Vice-Chair for the La Storta cluster, Dwyn made sure that the cluster will have projects and activities that are enjoyable and meaningful while forming a brotherhood with his fellow student leaders. As a member of Teatro Baguntao, he played his roles with eagerness and enthusiasm. As a student, aware of his potential and his flaws, Dwyn gave his best and tried his hardest.
Dwyn’s actions, contributions, and performance this year are true reflections of doing more and being more not just for oneself, but for others as well.
Throughout his stay in Ateneo Junior High School, Ian has shown exceptional service to his class and the Sanggu. He is a genuine and kind-hearted servant leader. He was able to successfully head batch projects in the past and was able to fulfill his duty as a student and a leader. He empowered the committees and this made its presence stronger in the AJHS community. This year, he has done a lot in leading the Creatives Team, especially with Sanggu's projects and was highly regarded for his contributions.
Ian embodies perseverance, hard work, and servant leadership. He also maintains good and effective communication with the people he's working with, and he always does things pragmatically. He is considered by many as a leader with a vision.
For his extraordinary effort and sacrifice, Ian must not go unnoticed especially since he still managed to maintain excellent grades while serving the AJHS community through his own efforts.
“Reviving” an organization in the AJHS is not an easy feat, even more so when we are still navigating this online setup, but it was Marcus’ resolve and perseverance as the Editor-in-chief that brought Hi-Lites, the AJHS news organization, back into the limelight.
Being part of Hi-Lites since grade 7, he witnessed how the organization transitioned to be a special student committee, and how the org suffered from lack of membership. These difficulties did not discourage him to accept the challenge of leading this organization. From partnering with Hi-Lites ASHS to working as early as June 2021, his service as Hi-Lites EIC proved to be valuable in rebuilding the organization. His leadership also boosted the younger members to contribute and create outputs for the org. This year, Hi-Lites received all the A-C-T-I-V-E awards during the Annual Activity Awards.
Quoting his org moderator, “The most commendable trait of Marcus is that he used his role as Editor-in-Chief of Hi-Lites as a bridge that connects the school to the social and political realities of the world and the country. He would propose that we write about important events and issues, such as the effects of the Community Quarantine, press freedom, Martial Law, the Ukraine-Russia crisis, and the most recent national elections. He believed that his fellow students should be aware of these issues, and it is the duty of Hi-Lites to be a source of information. Marcus truly personified the theme of Sanggu-JHS this year: Siya ay tunay na Mulat.”
Jop has maintained an impressive pace in terms of balancing his time with his studies and extracurricular activities. He has been one of the best students since he arrived at the AJHS. He was always kind to his classmates and is an excellent student. He has a pleasant demeanor, quiet in his approach yet firm on his purpose, and steel in his resolve. Out of the 5c's, he has shown so much compassion as evidenced by his readiness to listen to fellow schoolmates. Jop had high expectations of himself and has helped form goals for his class.
This award affirms Jop’s dedication to help others, and highlights all the uncommon good he has shown the community.
Excellence and eloquence best describe Sam, who has shown great potential in his academics and in his leadership this school year. His countless victories that even extend to the international tournaments have truly cemented his image of being one of the school’s talented and bright debaters. As he gave time and energy in preparing for his competitions, Sam also gave time for his academics and for his responsibilities as ACO Vice-chair of the Pamplona Cluster.
Sam, along with his fellow student leaders in the cluster, focused their time and energies in giving their clustermates meaningful experiences through the projects that they have created. As ACO Vice-chair, Sam helped organize projects that both showcased his schoolmates' talents and potential and benefited those outside of the community.
Juggling his different roles and responsibilities may have been quite a task for Sam, but it goes unnoticed that his achievements and his contributions to the community reflect his talent, service, and heart as a student-leader.
It is known to many that the shift to online set-up due to the pandemic was tough, especially to academic institutions such as AJHS. However, because of the dedication and perseverance of people like Mr. Steve Keven Solis or Sir Kevin, the school was able to still function well and survive.
This school year, the school would like to recognize the untiring and palpable service of Sir Kevin to the whole community. Despite his regular responsibility in his classes as a Filipino teacher, he also wholeheartedly assumed the responsibility to moderate the Council of Student Organizations (CSO), guiding and providing assistance not only to students but also to organization moderators. Aside from these, he still managed to extend his service to other offices or departments that asked for help from him, such as in the AJHS Christmas Party, LIKKAS, and STEP 2021.
Truly, Sir Kevin exemplified what the Magis Award for Distinguished Service looks for – a person who openly accepts every opportunity to help while doing everything with excellence and compassion.
This year, the school will recognize students who have excelled in various competitions and have brought pride and honor to the school. Qualified students will be awarded a PRINCIPAL's BADGE for their achievement.
