The Testing and Research Office (TRO) of the Ateneo de Manila Junior High School shares and supports the vision and mission of the school of molding young men into future leaders who are Christ-centered, competent, with a well formed conscience and compassionate commitment. As the school’s assessment and study arm, the TRO supports the Ateneo Junior High School Guidance Department through online guidance test administration (intelligence, aptitude, personality and attitudinal testing), scoring and interpretation for students in the different grade levels; handles the entrance test administration to grade school graduates aspiring to enter the Ateneo de Manila High School; and generates local norms for the various tests given to students in order to establish a more relevant and reliable reference point in reporting profiles of student ability, achievement, personality and attitude.
With the TRO’s expansion into a research arm of the school in 1996, the office is also involved in the collation of data from students' annual evaluation of the different programs of the school as well as in the generation of its final reports. Moreover, it is also responsible for the creation and administration of various surveys and evaluation instruments that prove to be invaluable in the continuous improvement of various school services.
The TRO also conducts several statistical studies and analyses, mostly on students' general academic achievement, in order to provide the school with valuable data on benchmarking and student profile. The tests utilized for this purpose include both teacher-made tests and objective assessment instruments developed and purchased locally as well as abroad.
The TRO is likewise consulted by school administrators in matters pertaining to the development, revision and/or replacement of current evaluation instruments used in the school. Moreover, the TRO also makes purchase recommendations of updated evaluation instruments in the market in order to facilitate and improve the testing and research services.
