is Co-Director of the Centre for Water Systems at the UK-based University of Exeter, and is a leading authority on intelligent blue–green infrastructure. His work bridges engineering, policy and community-centric approaches, with a strong emphasis on delivering research impact through practice.
Peter is actively involved in major UK water-innovation programmes, including projects funded through Ofwat’s £200m Innovation Fund and the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs Flood and Coastal Resilience Innovation Programme (FCRIP). He is Principal Investigator for the Blue Heart Project, which has deployed over 500 sensors to analyse blue–green infrastructure at a city-scale, and ResilienTogether for which Peter is a Strategy Board member. He works closely with water utilities, local municipalities, regulators, start-ups and wider communities to test and scale nature-based solutions. Through leadership in nationally significant projects, policy engagement and education, Professor Melville-Shreeve works to shape more resilient, liveable and sustainable places in the face of climate change.
