John Albert

is the Deputy CEO of the American Water Works Association (AWWA). Prior to joining AWWA, he served as Chief Research Officer at the Water Research Foundation (WRF). John has more than 25 years of experience in the water sector advancing water science, utility performance, and informed water policy.

He is especially proud of the strong network of water professionals he is part of across the United States, Canada, and internationally. Through these relationships, he has engaged on a wide range of topics including source water protection, asset management, water and wastewater treatment, rate setting, and customer perception.

John holds a Master of Environmental Science and Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines, a Master of Public Administration from the University of Colorado Denver, and a B.A. in Biology from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire.
