The ASU Teaching Fellows program for undergraduate students is an initiative that was developed to address a need among school districts that have shared with us their interest in attracting quality teachers, creating internal career pathways, and strengthening retention. ASU Teaching Fellows offers an accelerated and supportive pathway for paraeducators, who are school employees who assist certified teachers, to earn their own elementary education or special education certification and bachelor's degree while continuing to work in Arizona classrooms.

Mesa Public Schools’ Path 2 Teach program for graduate students is a partnership designed to make it more possible for districts to quickly develop programs tailored to their specific school and community needs. It offers a way for teachers who are employed by the district and who already have a bachelor’s degree in an area other than in teaching to earn a master’s degree in education with teacher certification, or a stand-alone teacher certification.

"In completing my certification with the support of both Mesa Public Schools and Arizona State University, I feel highly qualified to meet the needs of my students and support them where they are at. The Path2Teach program through Mesa Public Schools guided me through how to write a compliant IEP and ensure that I know and follow district policies with all the paperwork I complete. Additionally, the Arizona State University program equipped me to complete the day to day tasks of teaching special education with strategy, scaffolding, and specialization. "
"Path2Teach helped me connect what I was learning at ASU to what was actually happening in my classroom, giving me the confidence to put new ideas into practice right away. I didn't just learn about education; I worked closely with my cohort and learned how to be an educator. Through this, I developed lasting professional relationships and skills I use every day."

"PV Aspire gives me the freedom to fill in the gaps in my own knowledge, in ways that specifically target what would be most useful for me to learn at that particular point in the academic year in my own classroom."
"The professors maintain an open line of communication, readily available for emails and collaborative Zoom sessions. Their dedication to collaborative problem-solving and addressing queries underscores their commitment to student success. "
"This program is the perfect mixture of ASU and PVUSD. PS gives us the coverage in our classrooms that allows us time to meet together each month, and full time mentors whose sole responsibility is supporting and facilitating the success of the Aspire candidates... Because I am in Aspire, I have support on three different levels: site, district, and university."
"The instructional approach strikes a harmonious balance—pedagogical and individually tailored to meet the needs of each participant."
"One thing that makes a huge difference from this learning model is the motivation that being an Aspire student gives me to continue to take chances and stretch as an educator."
