A little bit about Natasha: Being a student is my full time job currently. I graduated in May 2019 with a BA in Organizational Leadership and a minor in Sustainability. I am a veteran of the United States Army and a former correctional officer with the State of Arizona. I met my husband in prison! If you're still reading this we were both correctional officers! I spend a lot of time as an amateur genealogist tracing my family line, collecting Starbucks mugs, and doing DIY around my house.
Start of Program: Summer 2019
What is your leadership/management style? Authentic leadership is about being genuine and real. It begins by determining your core values, beliefs, and guiding principles. Authentic leadership is about looking at your life story, experiences, crucibles, and setbacks. When you reflect on these aspects of your life and begin to frame your life story you gain self-awareness that sets you on the path to becoming an authentic leader. I am passionate about being an authentic leader.
What do you think you need to improve on? I think I need to improve on being a more empathetic person. A simple gesture, a smile, or a kind word can make a difference in someone else's day.
Aspirations and goals: If I can keep the momentum after finishing my MALM degree, I would like to pursue my PhD. I value education, the personal and professional growth it has provided me, and the opportunities it has given me. Thinking about how I can best impact the world moving forward I think that will be through sharing my quest for knowledge with others.
