A little about Heather:

I am the financial controller for an engineered wood manufacturing plant in Washington State. I have been here for three years, but have 20 years of accounting industry experience in both public practice and private industry.

For fun, I ride my motorcycle, do photography and my unpaid second job of taxi for my two kids.

Start of Program: Summer 2018 via EdX

What is your leadership/management style? Flexible. I feel different people need different styles of management and it is a manager's job to figure out how to motivate and get the best out of the people.

What do you think you need to improve on? I think everyone can always improve on communication. There is no "end" to improving communication. It is a constant learning experience as you meet new people, interact with new cultures and group dynamics change.

Aspirations and goals: To complete this program and become a greater resource to my company. We continue to grow and managing growth is extremely hard, especially when the growth comes with a lot of unexpected changes and bumps in the road.
