A little bit about Erik: Currently, I work as an advisor for the U.S. State Department. I have over 19 years of combined experience in Special Operations in the United States Army and security consulting. My wife and I recently relocated back to the United States from living in Costa Rica for the past 2.5 years. I am originally from Pennsylvania but have not spent too much time there since enlisting in the military in 1999. I enjoy spending time with my wife and dog, traveling, cooking, staying physically fit, and experiencing new restaurants.
Start of Program: Spring 2019
What is your leadership/management style? Bottom-up / Servant Leadership.
"Servant leadership is all about making the goals clear and then rolling your sleeves up and doing whatever it takes to help people win. In that situation, they don't work for you; you work for them." -Ken Blanchard
What do you think you need to improve on? When I was younger, I had a hard time finding work/personal life balance. Over the years, I have come to an understanding that my work will always be there “tomorrow” and I need to devote similar attention to my family life, but I still struggle with this at times.
Aspirations and goals: To own and operate a franchise with my wife.
