Competition Tracks

**Teams are only permitted to compete on one track**

Policy

Teams in this competition track will research and recommend policy (or policies) that will address the challenge issued through the event.


Teams will prepare a written policy brief comprised of the following sections:

(1) Executive Summary

(2) Introduction/Background

(3) Policy Option(s)

(4) Policy Recommendation(s)

(5) Conclusion


In addition, participants will prepare and make a short presentation to the judging panel. Judges will select a subset of the submissions to receive a financial award and implementation consideration at the appropriate/recommended level of policymaking (e.g. school district, Arizona or US Legislature, City Council, Federal Departments, etc.). All teams’ policy briefs will be included and published in a policy anthology.


Prizes:

1st place - $500

2nd place - $300

3rd place - $200

Project/Initiative Proposals

Teams in this competition track will design and propose programmatic investment opportunities that address the challenge issued through the event. Teams will propose projects, programs, and/or initiatives in which a curated selection of organizations related to the topic may consider investing and/or implementing (e.g. Arizona State University, LISC, Valley of the Sun United Way, UMOM, Chicanos Por La Causa, etc.).


Teams will prepare a written proposal, which includes the following sections:

(1) Executive Summary

(2) Background

(3) Initiative Design

(4) Implementation Considerations

(5) Budget.


Teams will also prepare and make a short presentation to the judging panel. Judges will select a subset of the submissions to receive a financial award and investment consideration at the appropriate/recommended organization. All teams’ investment proposals will be included and published in an anthology.

Actions & Commitments

Teams in this competition track will identify and propose action(s) that they (and/or an organization or group of which they are a part) will take to address the challenge issued through the event.


Teams will prepare a written proposal, which includes the following sections:

(1) Executive Summary

(2) Background

(3) Initiative Design

(4) Implementation Considerations

(5) Budget


Teams will also prepare and make a short presentation to the judging panel. Judges will select a subset of the submissions to receive funding (and/or mentorship) to execute on their proposed action(s), up to a predetermined amount. All teams’ proposals will be included and published in an anthology.

Up to $5,000 towards winning proposal
