Welcome to the DesignLab

Due to the Coronavirus, the DesignLab is currently open by APPOINTMENT only, and is ONLY supporting students currently engaged in active ASU classes.

You can make an appointment by emailing: designlabd@asu.edu

The DesignLab is a new makerspace located on the West Campus of Arizona State University. It is a partnership between Herberger Young Scholars Academy and Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College.

The DesignLab exists to serve as an educational resource center for all who wish to utilize the space, equipment and knowledge in order to learn through making. All of the equipment and materials available in the DesignLab are available to users at no-cost.

The DesignLab also houses the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College IgnitEd Lab, a re-imagined learning environment for teachers and teachers-in-training to gain hands on experience working with new technologies and tools that are becoming commonplace in classrooms and schools.

Given the goal of learning through doing, the DesignLab is operated on a staffed model, meaning that it is only open during hours when a paid staff member is available to oversee and provide instruction and support. At present, the DesignLab is only open to Herberger Young Scholars Academy students and Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College students and faculty, but it is our goal to open to the entire ASU community in the coming months, and the public by the start of the 2020-21 academic year.
