Welcome to this week's Round-Up!
What a fantastic week it's been at Aston Lodge Primary this week, culminating on Friday with our Festival of Sports. We were delighted that so many of our families were able to join us and we had around 300 adults at school throughout the day! We hope you enjoyed the day as much as the children and staff team did! I would like to take the opportunity to thank 'Team Aston Lodge' for their hard work on the day, especially Mr Marsh who organised everything. These events don't happen without the commitment and dedication of a great team, which is what we most certainly have!
Some of our Y6's enjoyed their transition time at their High school last week and we put the finishing touches to our Wizard of Oz preparations - the children did a remarkable job of rehearsing around the missing Y6's as well as filling in for missing cast members!
We have another busy week planned for next week! We hope you've all managed to secure your tickets for the Wizard of Oz performances on Tuesday and Wednesday. We are looking forward to the dress rehearsal tomorrow, when children from Aston Hall Primary School will be coming to watch! There were one or two children still without costumes last week, so please don't forget to send them in if you still have them at home.
We're also looking forward to our Summer Fair on Thursday, when there will be a wide range of stalls and activities, as well as hot dogs, burgers and ice cream. We're hoping for a fun afternoon which raises much needed funds for school. Thank you for your generosity and all the games and toys donated so far! Hopefully we'll see you all there!
Attendance
Consistency is the heartbeat of our thriving school community, and regular attendance is the single most important factor in ensuring your child feels confident, connected, and ready to learn.
Every day in the classroom is a chance to spark a new interest and build lasting friendships—thank you for your continued support in making every school day count!
We are so pleased with such a positive leap in our attendance last week and it was consistently sitting around the average for schools in England - let's hope this can continue!
This week's attendance:
School overall: 95%
FS1: 95.3% Year 3: 91.5%
FS2: 94.1% Year 4: 94%
Year 1: 96.6% Year 5: 93.5%
Year 2: 99.3% Year 6: 89.5%
Well done to every single class who has managed to improve their attendance this week! Year 2 are the weekly winners with astonishing attendance - we'll make sure they are suitably rewarded!
Congratulations to all those children who managed to attend every day last week - 73% of you achieved 100% attendance.
We appreciate that some absence is unavoidable, but are really determined to work with our families to ensure our children attend school regularly so as not to miss out on the fantastic opportunities that we are providing for them!
We hope you find this week's update useful.
Final call for outstanding costumes for tomorrow's dress rehearsal and our productions on Tuesday and Wednesday this week!
We still have a few tickets left for each performance, so don't forget to secure yours!
When we first sent out our 'expression of interest' form and asked parents to sign children up for Young Voices 2026, we had an overwhelming response. We have therefore reserved 55 seats at Sheffield Arena.
We understand, it seems a long way off and, at the time of our original communication, we didn't have the concert date.
We can now confirm that our concert will take place on 24th February and we are inviting children continue to join our Young Voices group - this is open to children who will be in Y3-Y6 next year and who enjoy music, singing and dancing. For any children who aren't sure, we invite them to come to one our after school sessions on Thursdays - 3:15-4:15.
Even though the concert is in February, we get our group together now so that we can share the songs with the children as it always helpful for them to begin to familiarise themselves with the songs over the summer. We have to confirm our final numbers in September and then organise our tickets and t-shirts!
We look forward to hopefully seeing our Young Voices group grow, as this is one of the most amazing experiences your child will enjoy whilst at primary school.
Please don't hesitate to get in touch should you have any questions.
We are delighted that our new provision, 'The Nest' will officially be in use from next week.
The Nest is a specially designed, calming sanctuary within our school, created to give children a peaceful space to regulate their emotions, focus away from the highly stimulating classroom environment, and enjoy dedicated sensory time.
At the heart of our school's ethos is a deep passion for inclusion and a commitment to ensuring we are highly effectively meeting the unique needs of every single child. We believe that The Nest will allow us to champion this mission even more effectively, providing the tailored comfort, care, and support our pupils need to thrive.
Our children certainly did us proud with how they engaged with their training this week! They will be awarded their badge and certificate this week and we look forward to hearing about the plans they might have for September and beyond.
Thank you all for your generosity and the donations sent in so far! We are looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday at 1:30pm!
We hope to see you all there!
