Son of small merchants,Paul Millot entered the seminary of Soissons in 1919, ordained a priest in 1929.
Father Millot took charge of the parish priest of Saint-Michel.
He will be appreciated for his kindness, his frankness and his simplicity.
September 1939, the war... Abbé Millot was mobilized as military chaplain.
Demobilized in June 1940, he tried to remedy the plight of his compatriots Saint-Michellois, the poorest.
He revived the shoe factory and sawmill with a few workers.
· 1941, it organizes kermesses every year to send parcels to prisoners.
· March 1944, the bishop named him pastor-dean of Hirson.
· June 1944, during an office, Abbé Millot gave a patriotic speech.
He hardly suspects that he is under surveillance, he who had joined a network of resistance
Arrested by the Gestapo, he was taken to Saint Quentin and then to Compiègne and deported to Germany.
· After a stay at Neuengamme camp, he is transferred to Dachau.
In this infamous and very weakened place of detention, he assists deportees who die of typhus.
The liberation of the camp in April 1945 will save him from death.
· Abbé Millot was profoundly marked and physically diminished by illness and abuse and returned to his duties as dean of Hirson a few months later.
· Promoted Commander of the Legion of Honour, he held the position of archpriest parish priest at Château-Thierry and was appointed canon of the chapter of the cathedral of Soissons.
This man of social justice, respectful of the ideas of others, died at the age of 61.
