He began to take an interest in the fortification in 1937 by following, during his school holidays,

the progression of the open sites along the border.

He worked as a volunteer from 1992 to 1997

the reorganization of the "fortifications" archives

of the Inspectorate of engineers who survived the events of the war.

He was therefore one of the French specialists in the history of contemporary fortification.

He brought to the Association Saint - Michelloise the Remembrance of May 1940

an irreplaceable competition.
