ASL Standards: Phonological Awareness (K/1)

Kindergarten:

a. Recognize that signs are separated by parameters.b. Identify the phonological parameters in ASL.c. Count, produce, blend, and segment parameters in signs.d. Manipulate parameters to make new meaning.e. Recognize and produce rhyming signs.

1st Grade:

a. Know the objectives from above - K: A to E.b. Produce phonological groupings (sign families and patterns, e.g. positions of upper face and lower face (DAD v. MOM, SUMMER v. DRY; feelings at chest area: HAPPY, ANGRY, THRILLED).
