Hsi-Wei Yen

I am an assistant research fellow at Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics (ASIAA). My major research is on star and planet formation, and the goal is to understand the origin of our solar system and the diverse properties of exoplanetary systems. I use various radio telescopes, including ALMA, SMA, IRAM 30m, JCMT, and SMT, to observe the gas kinematics in star-forming regions and protoplanetary disks. By analyzing the gas kinematics, I study how and when protoplanetary disks form around protostars and when planet formation occurs. My current major projects are to assess the importance of the magnetic field on the formation and evolution of protoplanetary disks and to search for the signposts of forming planets in protoplanetary disks.
