Mindess School COUNSELING Department
What does an elementary school counselor do?
The job of a school counselor in an elementary school is to help support the social-emotional well-being of students so they can better access the curriculum during academic learning time. We are responsible for implementing our social-emotional learning curriculum, Purposeful People, in all of the classrooms. School counselors also work with students who are struggling emotionally either individually or in a group during lunch bunch. We provide service for students to learn social skills, manage anxiety, improve anger management, deal with the feelings around the divorce of parents, and any other issues that might arise that makes it difficult to focus during classroom instructional time. It is our goal that every student feel safe and cared for at Mindess School.
