Why do well on the ACT? The ACT test scores are used for college admissions, but could be used to help determine which high school classes students will be placed in for the senior year: More colleges are moving to test optional, but many private schools still look at test scores and it is unclear if the UNC system test optional for this year will be extended to the 2022-23 school year. Some scholarships and special college programs ask for the scores (including some athletic programs). In addition, the scores may also be used to help students opt out of remedial courses which will be required their senior year. Students who do not demonstrate proficiency based on benchmarks (including ACT), MUST enroll in CCRG enhanced English 4 and/or Math 4 courses during their senior year. Students will be notified if they are at risk for this situation.
