This year's ASFM hackathon will take place on Friday April 25, 5:00 PM to Saturday April 26, 10:00 AM. High schoolers will come together to build apps and games, learn new skills, participate in fun activities beyond coding, enjoy fabulous meals and drinks, and have the chance to win swag and prizes.
Hold up! No, we’re not “hacking” servers or databases. The word is being constructively re-defined as building things—apps, games, websites, etc. At Hack_@ASFM, it’s all safe, supervised, and entirely educational.
We are offering a mix of intro and advanced sessions so participants with different coding levels find something interesting and fun for them to learn at Hack_@ASFM!
Hack_@ASFM will take place in our brand-new, state-of the-art business incubator, The Startup Hub, located in the Middle School/High School Building at our Huasteca Campus.

Hackathons are competitive programming events in which teams and individuals create their own custom projects to showcase.
Individual registration and attendance is $250 pesos, with all workshops, meals, drinks, swag, and prizes included.
Any current student in grades 9–12. Middle schoolers are allowed on a case-by-case basis. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate parents but teacher chaperones are welcomed at the event.
Complete beginners are not only welcome, but expected! Learn as you go with our intro workshops and mentors.
All skill levels are welcome. Though we primarily market to beginners, we welcome experts and everyone in between.
Nope, but it is more fun if you bring your own friends! Whether you organize your own team (of up to 4 students) or decide to fly solo, you'll have an opportunity to meet fellow hackers and make new friends .
Anything! A website, app, game, you name it. A theme or topic will be revealed during the event and a judging panel will rate projects on creativity, technical skill , polish, and usefulness.
It’s not about winning—it’s about learning and making friends that last for a lifetime (so everyone’s a winner!). If you’re thinking, “ahh- that’s adorable…but really,” then we’ve got you covered too: there will be swag and prizes (TBA) galore!
Student ID, laptop, chargers, toiletries, and comfortable clothes. A warm hoodie or blanket (maybe?) as you will likely get some sleep (or not) during the event .
A big part of the hackathon culture is to sleep over, but if you'd rather not stay overnight you're welcome to do so! We will have a "lockdown" at night for security/safety reasons, so just make sure you're out of the building before the lockdown begins and come back in the morning after it ends.
This is a student-organized, student-led activity. The actual event will be supervised and supported by about a dozen adults between teachers, admin, maintenance, IT and security staff.
