Always Isn't Forever
DESCRIPTION:
When you subtract, the bigger number always goes first.” Many of us have been taught a math rule such as this but later found out it does not hold true in every situation. Always isn’t forever. In this session, we will explore mathematical procedures, vocabulary, and concepts that we teach in elementary school that often cause confusion in later grades and how we can adjust our methods to be mathematically sound while also developmentally appropriate.
