Kemper Human Rights Education Foundation - ($ 3000, $1500 & $750)- This year the Kemper Human Rights Education Foundation (khref.org) is offering first, second, and third place prizes of $3000, $1500, and $750 to high school students judged to have written the best answers to the following question: Respect for human rights seems to be eroding in many countries. Do you agree?  If so, provide examples and explain what you think is the major cause of the problem and how it should be addressed?  If you disagree, explain the reason you disagree. There are two contests: one for students in the U.S. and one for students who are citizens and residents of other countries. Essays will be judged according to how well they answer the question posed and the extent to which they are supported by research. DEADLINE: December 10, 2022


Burger King Scholars Program- $1,000 - Integrity, high standards, entrepreneurial spirit, good citizenship and education were the values that defined BURGER KING® brand co-founder James W. McLamore. It was those values that helped realize a dream and it is those same values that are the core of the BURGER KING® Foundation, which will continue to build on his legacy and his commitment to education. DEADLINE: December 15th, 2022 *However if 50,000 applications are received prior to December 15, the application will no longer be available.


Ron Brown Scholar Program- $40,000 ($10,000 per year) The Ron Brown Scholarship honors the legacy of Ronald H. Brown through a selective scholarship program that advances higher education for community-minded and intellectually gifted African Americans.  RBSP competitively awards Ron Brown Scholars four-year $40,000 scholarships ($10,000 each year) to the most talented and economically-challenged high school seniors who demonstrate a keen interest in public service, community engagement, business entrepreneurship and global citizenship – the four pillars of the late Ronald H. Brown’s mission to uplift people of all races, cultures and ethnicities – especially our disadvantaged youth. DEADLINE: January 9, 2023


Sons of the American Revolution Knight Essay Contest- ($Varies) The George S. and Stella M. Knight Essay Contest was originally established and named in honor of President Calvin Coolidge, who won a local SAR essay contest while a student at Amherst. The contest was reestablished in 1988 by Compatriot McCarthy DeMere.  In 1995, the contest was renamed the George S. and Stella M. Knight Essay Contest in honor of their generous gift to the SAR to support this contest. The program is designed to give freshman, sophomore, junior and senior students an opportunity to explore events that shaped American history. DEADLINE: January 31, 2023

The Coolidge Scholarship -is an annually awarded, full-ride, presidential scholarship that covers a student’s tuition, room, board, and expenses for four years of undergraduate study. FOR JUNIORS ONLY.  DEADLINE: February 23, 2023

Nick Begich Schoarship Intern Fund- $Varies The Nick Begich Scholarship Intern Fund was created in 1977 to carry on the ideals of the late Congressman Nicholas J. Begich from Alaska, who came to the state in 1956 as a teacher and believed that education was both a right and a privilege, one that must be available to all as a key to self-realization. Since inception, the Fund has provided over $300,000 in support to exceptional Alaskans, helping them realize their educational goals. For Alaska students pursuing degrees in education, government, or public service are eligible to apply. Deadline: February 27, 2023

Horatio Alger Scholarship- $25,000 (106 Awards -National), $10,000 ( 50 Awards- State), & $2,500 (1020 Awards-Career & Tech School)-As one of the nation's largest need-based college scholarship programs in the country, the Horatio Alger Scholarship Programs specifically assist high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. While many programs are directed primarily to recognizing academic achievement or leadership potential, the Horatio Alger Association seeks students who have exhibited determination, integrity, and perseverance in overcoming adversity, as well as have critical financial need. Deadline: March 15, 2023

FEMA Youth Council- The Youth Preparedness Council (YPC) was created in 2012 to bring together youth leaders interested in supporting disaster preparedness and making a difference in their communities by completing disaster preparedness projects nationally and locally. The YPC supports FEMA’s commitment to involve America’s youth in preparedness-related activities. It also provides young people an opportunity to present their perspectives, feedback, and opinions to FEMA staff. YPC members regularly meet with staff and attend the annual YPC Summit.  DEADLINE: March 6, 2023


PB&J Scholarship- $500 - $1,000 -The PB&J Scholarship was started in Hawaii back in 2013 to help students who experienced challenges that may have prevented them from reflecting well on paper (GPA, Test Scores, Etc…), but have the drive to succeed.
