Bonnie Myers

My name is Bonnie Myers and I am super excited to be returning to the “owls' nest” this year! I previously taught third grade for two years at Anderson-Shiro Elementary. I'm looking forward to the change of pace in first grade! My husband and I are both Anderson-Shiro graduates, from the class of ’99! After graduating, I attended Sam Houston State University to continue my education. I then taught in Magnolia ISD for 11 years. We have two precious little girls, who seem to be growing too fast! Together as a family, we enjoy traveling, reading, and spending time outdoors. I am looking forward to helping your child GROW and GLOW this year!!!

Stacey Smith

Hello! I am so excited to begin my twelfth year of teaching. I grew up here in this sweet town of Anderson and I am so excited to be back. My husband and I have been married for eleven years and we have two miracles named Zoey and Lane. Zoey and I get to share the halls together in second grade and we are so excited. I previously taught in the Magnolia and Montgomery school districts and am so blessed that I get to teach here back home. In 2010, I received the Magnolia District Elementary Teacher of the Year award and I pray to continue to live up to that honor. I look forward to sharing each day with your precious child!

April Bay

This is my sixth year teaching at Anderson-Shiro and my first year teaching third grade math, science, and social studies! After taking a year off, I am excited to return to the Owl family. I am looking forward to an amazing year of learning from one another and making lifelong memories together.

I graduated from Lovelady High School in 1999. I attended Sam Houston State University and graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Education and a specialization in early childhood. While in college, I met my husband, Andy, on a blind date. On December 18, 2004 we had a beautiful Christmas wedding with over 50 Christmas trees! My husband is an engine operator for the Conroe Fire Department and we now have two sons, Wacey, and Jett. Wacey is in 6th grade and Jett is in 3rd grade. Having my boys at school with me is a BLAST!

Angie Hulsman

I have lived in the Bryan/College Station area for 25 years. I am originally from Richland Springs, a small town in Central Texas, that is very similar to the Anderson community. I am a proud member of Texas A&M University class of '98. After graduating from TAMU, I began my teaching career in Navasota ISD where I taught Pre-Kindergarten for 17 years and First Grade for 4 years. My husband Edward is a Houston firefighter. We have been married for 18 years and have two girls, Avery and Emberly. Our family enjoys spending time together outdoors hunting, fishing and riding horses. We love being involved in the community and supporting our girls in their extra curricular school activities. We love the education our girls are receiving in Anderson and I am excited to be a part of this wonderful school district.

Gail Peterson

Hello, I’m Gail Peterson, your new 4th grade teacher. I’ve been an educator for the past twenty-two years most recently in Bryan ISD. I’m a math and science specialist. My husband and I raised six children while living and working in Houston and Texarkana. In my spare time I love DIY projects, quilting, and spoiling our four grandchildren. We moved out to this beautiful part of Texas two years ago and are looking forward to becoming part of the ASCISD community.

NATAlie Skrehot

Hi Anderson-Shiro Family! My name is Natalie Skrehot and I am extremely excited to be a part of this amazing community! Prior to that, I have been a High School Athletic Director, PE Teacher, Art Teacher, Track Coach, and Cheerleading Coach. I married the love of my life, Shaun Skrehot, in 2001 and we have three amazing kiddos who attend Anderson-Shiro – Tyler is in ninth grade, Nolan is in fourth grade, and Isabella is in first grade. I love spending time with my family, going to the beach, camping or anything related to the outdoors! I’m looking forward to working in this beautiful community in which we live!

My name is Dwayne Ross, and I am the new Secondary Principal. I have been away from Anderson for the past five years, and am glad to have the opportunity to return. I have enjoyed the last five years in Iola ISD, but am excited about the opportunity to rejoin the Anderson-Shiro ISD community.

My wife of 26 years, Kim, is an Anderson graduate, and recently took a position with the Huntsville ISD as a math instructional coach. We have 2 daughters, Taylor (19), who attends Blinn College and Texas A&M University, and Abby (16), who will be a Junior at Anderson-Shiro this year. My mother also graduated from Anderson, and my grandmother taught in Anderson for 25 years before she retired. I am committed to the Owl journey of inspiring our students to grow and develop into outstanding individuals who will go out and not only experience it, but also change the world.

Kim Beene

Hello Owl Family! I am Kim Beene and this 19/20 school year will begin my 25th year in education and my 4th year here as an Anderson-Shiro Owl. I am excited to begin my new adventure as the Secondary Campus Assistant Principal and look forward to building new relationships with the students, staff and community.

I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and received my Masters in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. My rewarding career has allowed me to watch students grow, chase their dreams and turn into successful young adults.

Scott and I have been married for 25 years and have one son, Brice, who will be a Junior this year at Anderson-Shiro. Our life is busy and fun chasing Brice’s passion of playing baseball and team roping. When time allows, we also like to fish, hunt and even raise a show pig or two. Basically, almost anything to get us outdoors!

I am looking forward to an amazing 2019-2020 school year “Building Champions” as an AS Owl!

Daniel shumate

My name is Daniel Shumate, the newest member of the math team at Anderson-Shiro. I'm originally from Bullard, TX, a small town outside of Tyler. While attending Bullard High School (at the time, not much larger than A-S), I was very involved with music and performance, along with FFA. I then pursued a mathematics degree from Texas A&M University with the intention of teaching high school; while in college, I also continued my music education as a member of the Texas A&M Singing Cadets, the "Voice of Aggieland" men's choir. In my free time I am very involved with my church congregation, I closely follow college football, and I play drums and sing in a garage band. I am excited to join the staff here in Anderson, and can't wait to see what this year brings.

Hi there! My name is Martha Smith. I’m the School Resource Officer for Anderson-Shiro.

I started my career in law enforcement back in 2002 with Grimes County Sheriff’s Office. While with Grimes County, I worked patrol and then was assigned to Anderson-Shiro, Richards, and Navasota High Point Elementary as School Resource Officer. In 2017, I worked with Brazos County Sheriff’s Office as School Resource Deputy for College Station High School. I decided to make the change back as my children attend Anderson-Shiro.

My husband, Kevin Smith is a Texas State Trooper and is stationed in Brazos County. My boys are Kevin Smith who is in 7th grade, Gavin Smith who is in 2nd grade, and Ray Smith who attended TLU to play football but was injured. He is now attending classes at Blinn and hopes to enroll into Texas A&M soon.

I am so thankful to be back where I started and looking forward to serving our community.
