Library Goal

The mission of the Anderson-Shiro JR/SR High School Library is to ensure that students are effective users of ideas and information. The library strives to provide the school students, staff and community with a wide range of materials. The library seeks to provide access to a variety of interesting and current materials on appropriate levels of difficulty that will encourage growth in knowledge, establish a life-long love of reading, and foster information literacy. The library is eager to be an extension of classroom learning where students and teachers have access to materials and resources beyond the classroom walls.

About Mrs. Hesterman

My name is Candace Hesterman and I've been an educator for 33 years. Anderson-Shiro CISD has been my home for 31 years, serving as an educator, then as a librarian. I'm also an alumni of Anderson-Shiro - Class of "82! I've earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education, with a minor in Reading, and a Masters Degree in Library Science at Sam Houston State University. My husband and I live in the Anderson-Shiro district and have a combined family of six children and 9 grandchildren! I'm honored to be a part of the Anderson-Shiro family and look forward to working with your children, encouraging not only their love for reading, but cultivating a learning community that fosters innovation, appreciates individualism, and embraces creativity. At Anderson-Shiro, we want to inspire our students to take ownership of their futures by BUILDING CHAMPIONS!
