Mr. Lenhart

Salutations!

Welcome to Mr. Lenhart's class. We are a class that loves to learn. I want to engage your students in the world of History, Science, Literature, ... and give them tools to be the best spelllers and readers they can be. Yes, we work hard, but we have fun. If you're not having fun... You're not learning.

Meet Mr. Lenhart

Mr. Lenhart | 2nd Grade | Ascent Classical Academy Douglas County

ABOUT ME

I love spending time with children, at home and in the classroom. My beautiful wife Allison and I welcomed our first son into the world two years ago. I will be teaching second grade for the fourth year, after teaching for six years in preschoool. I enjoy spending time outside with my family and my dog, Shiloh. I also enjoy building and creating in my "free time," including hand crafting paddleboards.

EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy is that when children are in a place where they feel safe and are able to be themselves that they truely grow and learn. I also believe that it takes all of us as a team. Open communication between the student, the teacher and you as a parent.

WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO

GET TO KNOW ME

What is your favorite book?

The Bible is my favorite book. I know it's controversial these days, but it has it all. Adventure, love, heroism, strength, and weaknesses. It makes me a better person as I explore the pages. What characteristics do I want to emulate, which characteristics I do not want to emulate.

What is your favorite subject?

My favorite has to be History. Not the memorize this guy at this date. It's their story, the good, the bad, and the ugly of the people and how they stood out in a time of struggle. How one person or people united together changed the course of time.

What do you love about ascent?

I love the rich curriculum this school provides. I have taught at other schools and I believe that the philosophy of studying good and bad moments in history and discuss why they made these decisions. Teaching both content and morality is why I like this school. The staff is wonderful as well. I have built wonderful relationships with so many like-minded staff members.

What is your favorite Game?

I love volleyball. It is a game that is more mental than physical. Reading the opponents, working together as a team to be one amazing unit of both offence and defence.

MEET YOUR TEACHER'S ASSISTANT

Mrs. Sauer

ABOUT ME

I am a mother to 3 wonderful children who attend Ascent (ages 11,9,7). I have been married for 18 years. We are a busy family who loves to travel and play sports. I have a Bachelors degree in Social Work from Azusa Pacific University. I worked for many years in before becoming a stay at home mom. Last year, I transitioned to a Teachers Assistant at Ascent and I truly loved it.

WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO

I am excited to be supporting our second grade teachers and students this year. I feel grateful to be a small part of the Ascent community. I spent the summer learning my phonograms and I looking forward to hopefully knowing as much as these bright second graders! Ha! The second grade team is tremendous and I am eager to jump in and assist!

Mrs. Katz

ABOUT ME

My husband and I have 5 kids, all of whom attend Ascent in grades 11, 9, 5,4 and 2. I homeschooled my children for 13 years. While I homeschooled, I focused on exposing my kids to great books and Singapore Math in the elementary school ages. I have a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Colorado Christian University and an M.A. in Old Testament from Denver Seminary.

WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO

I feel privileged to be a part of this great school. I look forward to working with and learning from the great second grade teachers at Ascent. Children are absolutely delightful and I feel honored to be a part of their education. I hope that they find the same joy in learning that I do.
