Jim Keller:
So, we are very happy so many people joining our Sandbox workshop and competition. So, now we would like to invite our computational intelligence President Jim. Thank you. Thank you Thank you. I'm Jim. And, maybe hard to believe but I am the President of the society and that sponsored this conference and has sponsored this activity. And, I am just so impressed by seeing everybody here all of the kids, and of course all the parents with the kids and everybody online. You know it's really this is a really a signature program of the Computational Intelligence Society. These young folks are the future. Hopefully, they'll all become members and one of them will be the President in some number of years. I may I'm the past for sure. You know maybe a little bit of the present but certainly not the future. So the future is in this room and so we're very grateful this is at this program here. I don't know if you know this but two years ago Professor Lee on behalf of the whole team won the IEEE Education Activities Board Medal for Pre- College Education across the whole IEEE which is a huge job organization. So, I would like to welcome everybody everybody online hope you have a good competition today. And, you know I'll be back at the end for the for the winners right. Okay, thank you very much.
Chun Che Lance Fung:
Next, we would like to invite IEEE Region 10 Director, Lance Fung, and maybe in Canada in Vancouver and thank you so much, Prof. Lee and Jim. Currently, I'm located in Ottawa. I'm attending the IEEE section congress. We are very well attended by over 1,000 dedicates from all over the regions and the sections in IEEE. Some of you are not aware of IEEE stands for Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. We are the largest technical professional organization in the world. We have our technical society like the CIS. Jim is the President of the Computational Intelligence Society. We have also others well 38 additional societies including the Computer Society, Power and Energy Society, etc. But I would say that the CIS will go to be one of the most important societies in the sense that you are dealing with a technology which is about leading the resolution of technology right now. We have gone through different eras of revolutions starting looking in the human or civilization how the use of the fire use of the steam engine and using of the internal complexion engine. They move on to in terms of computations communications. And, right now we are also the new era of the intelligence, Artificial Intelligence. And, the workshop like this is really timely we keep our next generation of children and also the next generation of scientists to the engineers. and we are expecting you guys could develop new applications, go to the performance that is equally the artificial intelligence. yeah I hope that maybe the bandwidth is a bit of an issue okay anyway I just see me say thank you very much for your attendance and also thank you so much for the leadership and running of the workshop. Thank you for professor Lee and and all the leaders in the CIS and also all of the different parts of the world as well okay Everyone enjoyed and a quick success of the workshop. Thank you.
Li-Wei Ko:
Good morning, everyone. I'm happy to see you all of you in in this workshop and many thanks for Professor Lee's organization. I'm sorry that I cannot participate in the event this year but our team also join Professor Lee's workshop and will have a demonstration in the conference. Wish all of you enjoy this conference event. Thank you.
Pau-Choo Chung:
We would like invite Julia (Pau-Choo). Are you online, our education Vice-President? But now with this opportunity I would like to welcome all of you to this program. First, I thank all the participants and Chang-Shing and all our local chapters and also those high school teachers and students joining these activities. CIS has devoted a lot of efforts on organizing activities for promoting CI techniques through all the worshop of our out-reach programs. So, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome and also think all of our partners working together for this program and also would like to require all of you to distribute our information and activities to the high school students, middle school students, or even any member institutions. And, we have the students and would like to work with you and also lots of our subcommittee members would like to work with you. So, thank you for joining and organized today's program. And, I wish you have a very happy program and enjoyable day and make that friends. Thank you.
Kuei-Ping Shih:
Kuei-Ping Shih, please from Tamkang University, Taiwan. okay Distinguished organizers, esteem guests, and old friends who are passionate about the Sandbox for teaching and learning in computational intelligence. Good morning. I'm Kuei-Ping Shih from Tamkang University, Taiwan. I'm very honored to be here participating in this innovative and passionate activity. I want to thank Professor Lee and organize for their hard work. Let's look forward to the insight and gains this activity that can bring us Wish the activity is smooth and successful. Thank you very much. Thank you.
Jo-Ellen Snyde:
Before our group photo, we would like to invite Jo-Ellen to say something. Hello everyone. I'd like to welcome you all to this, to IEEE, and this competition. I've been proud to be able to support Chang-Shing and his efforts for the last few years. And, good luck, and enjoy the conference. Thank you, Jo-Ellen.
Marek Reformat:
Next, we would like to invite Marek for the young student. So, before we do that once again welcome everyone especially the the young audience was already easy doing other things. I know that thinking a lot of things I haven't learned Chinese in Taiwan. It's being amazing to work with the kids although the elementary is a high school and also the elementary kind of entry to the university so the great events and I'm glad to be a part of this.
Hui-Ping Chen:
We would like to invite the President of National University of Tainan (NUTN), Hui-Ping Chen okay a can you hear me can you hear me Good morning everybody. all of you can you hear me yes okay sorry maybe it's not I'm the president of National University of Tainan in Taiwan I'm very glad that our university can co-host this event with all of you and thanks Dr. Chang-Shing Lee and all of his members. The Taiwanese members include more than 30 students from elementary schools to doctoral programs. We want to promote future innovational learning models in CI and we hope the learning models and achievements of these students in this year can serve as the international volunteer for student learning and competition models at the IEEE WCCI 2024 conference in Japan. I will express and represent my teams the Taiwan teams express our gratitude to the IEEE and the National Science and Technology Council (NSCT) in Taiwan for your long-term support and funding that can promote the young serious ability in the field of computational intelligence. That's all. Welcome you to Taiwan Tainan in the near future. Thank you all. Thank you very much.
Derek Anderson:
We would like to invite our program chair. Hello, I'm going to keep short being the first person. Everybody wants to get to work. I'll just say the same thing. I just take the committee and everything but everybody here This is wonderful. I never got opportunities like this when I was a kid. So, hopefully computational intelligence and artificial intelligence make you guys get open doors at that of us guys and to have a way to college. So, thanks to gentlemen like here. You get a chance to help kind of scope for the future of our society. So keep it short and say thank you for everybody, you guys included, and have a great time. And I'm looking forward to you in the winner.
Frank Rhee:
and Yes, every year is done so many good things and I think not only this year, the next year, and the years coming to continue this great job. Please enjoy this competition and let's give up a big hand. Thank you.
Marek Reformat:
Once again welcome everyone especially the young audience was already easy doing other things. But I think that that would be a great event. I know that's I know that Chang-Shing is doing a lot of things I haven't like privilege to be at this place in Taiwan. It's being amazing to work with the kids. There is no problem with in elementary educated to high school and also educated to the university. So, the great events and I'm glad to be a part of this.
