We worked on creating a periodic table with a topic of our choice. I decided to make my periodic table based on music genres and bands and one of their songs in the music world. For example, Queen, one of their songs, albums, and the views of that song. A pattern that I included in the range of how soft and loud each genre of music is so that when moving across my periodic table the music is calmer. There are 8 genres of music; Rock, Jazz, Hip Hop, Folk, Bossa Nova, Blues Rock, Funk, and Indie. In which all of these include 5 different bands or music groups with their music. As we go down the periodic table, the number of views each band song has in a genre are added together and compared to other genres. Let's say, rock bands have more views in total than Jazz bands, so Rock bands would go before Jazz.
Lastly, in a genre, the bands with fewer albums would go after the ones with a higher number of albums. In the periodic table as you move across a period the atomic number increases, in mine, when we move across a period each song and genre reduces intensity.
I did this project to inspire others, to show and understand the periodic table by making one myself. We had to face problems like figuring out the patterns and how to organize your periodic table. We couldn't only choose a random pattern, we had to use similar patterns that are in the periodic table.
To create my project I used paper, and photos and even had to include something similar to the atomic number and as well the number of views from the song of each band. It included a lot of research to figure out the songs, the views, and the number of albums each of the bands have, single or not.
I found out that making a periodic table yourself wasn't easy at all. It was hard to decide each of the components that would be in your project.
We can draw that most of the things we are instructed to do look easy and simple but are hard. Not everything will be simple and most stuff takes time, before doing the fun part of creating your periodic table, you have to find the patterns and research a ton to make your periodic table understandable.
I could've organized my project a lot more, for example, by making more space. I could improve by including more patterns and maybe even choosing something a lot more simple.
To start off, I really enjoy listening to music, especially songs made by different bands. SO I decided it would be a good idea to base my peridoic table off of them. I decided on 8 genres and 5 songs for each genre. It took time, I had to research about each song, how many views they had, and how many albums each band have.
I am really impressed with your project! The information and thought that went into the patterns and organization of the songs is really cool. This project would be great to take into an online format that could perhaps change colors or highlight patterns present in the table. Or where people could add their own songs into categories based on the structure that you created. Very cool!
