Have you ever heard about a sustainable hotel that really cares about the earth? Well I decided to create a sustainable hotel in Brazil that bans anything plastic or anything that can affect the earth in a bad way. One example is we don't give out plastic straws, we only give out paper or bamboo straws.
I did this project because since there is a beach on this hotel I know that people get drinks take it to the beach and just throw it on the floor or in the ocean and that really affects the sea animals. It also helps out will recyleing and not using plastic.
I created my project with a cardboard box represented as the hotel and I put some color on it to make it look like a hotel, I used glitter yellow paper as the sand, and I painted on the section above the sand in blue to make it the ocean. Other han that I added some jet skis, banana boats, and paper straws.
The results of my project turned out very well. The methods I used was I looked up on the internet hotels on the beach in Brazil and I made a similar hotel but I replaced everything with sustainable things.
My results are important because a sustainable hotel can really help out the environment and it really needs to make a big impact. I learned from my results that making everything sustainable costs a lot more money. A example how you spend a lot more money is paper straws because paper straws aren't the best and they get soft in your drink so people use more than one straw for several drinks so we need to by much more paper straws than If we had plastic straws.
What I could of done differently was create a sustainable restaurant inside the hotel that serves everything sustainable and maybe even vegetarian food since eating meat affects the animals. My next steps are to fix up the little details of my project to make it perfect.
I got my information by hotel websites in hotels. I would get the info and do the oposite of what they do to make it sustainable. I was supported by my teachers for helping my ideas work and for giving me ideas.
This is a really cool idea for a project and I really like the motivation behind it! Even though, as you mentioned, it can be sometimes costly, in the end it will lead to greater long-term benefits. You mention wanting to make improvements. It would be nice to see what it would look like after those adjustments are made.
