We did a parachute with news paper, a little bit of tape and a little bit of strings. We needed to do a parachute with just that and make it strong so when we test it is going to descend slowly.
We are trying to create this parachute with really small amount of materials, these engineering challenges are to help us understand some of experiences that normal engineers go through, such as astronaut engineers on Mars.
I did it in the most simple way posible and try to do a equal amount of materials on each side. I also search tutorials to have ideas and to make a good parachute.
It work because I got third on the competition on who's parachute stayed longer in air. I did a big and light parachute so a lot of air gets through through the news paper and makes it stay more time on the air.
It means my hypothesis was correct and that the things that I put to my parachute was helpful, I also got 3rd place and my parachute stayed 3 seconds on air.
I think I could stayed more time doing a better project and not rushing to throw it and try it. I also could use some other technics and also try the technics of my friends.
I got some ideas of tutorials and ideas from the internet, i also got ideas from myself and my classmates and the ways I used to do my paper planes before. I also thought about the basic things that could help my parachute tu stay longer in the air.
I loved your use of the empty marker shell to add balance to your parachute. Very inventive!
