My submission consists of a set of maps from an imaginary country called Filipini (NOT THE PHILLIPINES!) inspired by the book ‘How to train your Dragon’, by Cressida Cowell. These maps, which are a fusion of art, science and creativity, help me design and visualize the countries I wish we will have in the future. In these ideal countries, nature, technology, engineering and humans will coexist in harmony, like the notes in ‘Humoresque’, a beautiful composition by Dvořak.
I am a kid and I worry about the future. I want to imagine the future and how our lives will be like. This way, when I am older, I can help make the world a better place for everyone.
I love maps. They are a great way to describe the world. In a compact image you can convey a large amount of information and details to describe everything that is relevant for human life.
I find that the many problems that humanity faces today can be easily fixed. For example, today we are using energy sources that release a lot of carbon dioxide (CO2) when there are already alternative sources, like wind power, solar power, and hydro power, that are harmless for our environment. We just have to think hard about the type of world we want for ourselves and get to work on it.
If we work together, and we use our brain power, everything can be fixed and we can have a model Earth. This will help us all be healthier, happier, more relaxed, and live peacefully.
I wish my classmates and I can imagine a model country together and dream together about how living in it would be like. We probably like different things, but we can surely agree on things that we will all be happy with.
I want to acknowledge the support of my parents.
Creative map-making! I love all the different layers and colors you used. I wonder if you had printed off labels for each section it would have been easier to read?
