Geography Higher

Work to be completed:

Work will be uploaded weekly by Miss Cowan to the Higher class Teams page. Anyone who has not already been added to this Teams page should add themselves using the following code: kq90h9f

Please contact Miss Cowan at nadine.cowan@aberdeenshire.gov.uk if you have any questions.

January topics plan:

The Higher Geography course has been amended by the SQA for this session and so the topics we are still to complete are:

Physical Environments - Atmosphere

Human Environments - Rural

Application of Skills - the map-based 20mark question requiring you to apply your map and geographical skills to determine the impacts of a proposed development. We will go over this again to recap once you are back in school before the assessment period - it is very difficult to do a good job of this using online maps so we will wait until we are back to in-person teaching for this consolidation.

All work set will be posted to the class Teams page in video Powerpoint format on a Monday morning. This work will be due for the following Monday and there will be a live lesson on Thursdays 9.30am-10am to discuss feedback/help with coursework.

Assessment:

The course has one exam with 2 papers:

Paper One - 1hr 50mins based on the Physical and Human Environments topics

Paper Two - 50mins based on the Global Issues topic (Development and Health) plus the Application of Skills question
