Inverurie Academy’s Technical department is well resourced and offers a full range of courses to cater for the needs and interests of all pupils. We cultivate key life skills like problem solving, creative thinking, initiative, and independent working. Pupils in S1-3 will follow the Broad General Education courses (BGE). In S1 pupils will attend two periods of technologies per week. One within a classroom environment developing key skills in Graphic Communication, Engineering Science and Electronics which will include sketching, computer-aided design (CAD), electronic programming and Engineering challenges. The workshop periods will explore Practical Woodworking and Metalworking where pupils will gain key health and safety knowledge and successfully complete a toy aeroplane project which they will use their practical electronic skills to wire in a motor, switch and battery pack to their toy plane. In S2 pupils will have three periods of technologies a week, two within a classroom setting and one within the workshop
