In S1 the Art & Design course introduces pupils to the importance of drawing in all Expressive and Design activities. Observation is vital for the development of pupils ability to record visually and to improve practical skills using a variety of media and materials. There are three projects that S1 will complete throughout the year. Each of these projects focus on developing a wide range of practical skills and activities. Pupils will also be introduced to basic critical thinking and analysis through studying the work of successful artists and designers.
The three projects that will be followed in S1 Art & Design are as follows:
Drawing : Visual elements
Colour: Critical activity; Project based on an artist.
Design : Packaging design
3D Modelling
Observational Drawing: Visual elements
Each of the above projects will enable pupils to refine their artistic skills and abilities by focussing on how to use the visual elements to best effect in the production of their work.
