Pupils will review background information, plan and undertake a practical investigation related to Chemistry, and present their findings.
Successful completion of Higher Chemistry in S5 can lead to Advanced Higher Chemistry in S6. You may also wish to do an alternative Science subject or L4/5/6 STEM Leader as an alternative on your pathway.
The course encourages development of; knowledge & understanding; science inquiry; investigative skills; analytical thinking; understanding of chemistry’s role in Society; problem solving; planning; practical skills; scientific literacy; independent working Learning will include activities which are experiential, active, challenging and include practical experiments/activities, where possible. An investigatory approach will be encouraged in Chemistry, with learners actively involved in developing their skills, knowledge and understanding.
To gain the award of the Course, pupils must pass the Course assessment.
The Course assessment will provide the basis for grading attainment in the Course award and is comprised of 2 parts:
2 question papers (120 marks in total)
an assignment (20 marks)
