Food for Health
- analyse the relationship between health, food and nutrition
- analyse dietary needs for individuals at various stages of life
- through practical activities, produce and evaluate food products which meet individual needs.
Food Product Development
- study the functional properties of ingredients in food and their use in developing food products
- develop an understanding of the stages involved in developing a food product
- through a problem-solving approach, produce food products to meet a range of consumer needs
- apply knowledge and understanding of safe and hygienic food practices and techniques
Contemporary Food Issues
- investigate a range of contemporary food issues
- analyse how these issues influence decisions taken by consumers when making food choices
- communicate your findings in an appropriate way.
Entry into this course would normally be a qualification of:
National 5 Heath & Food Technology or equivalent
This course is appropriate for pupils looking to work in the hospitality industry, or other health related fields, nutrition, food product development or in sports.

question paper (50%)
assignment (50%)
Each pupil must pass all 3 units as well as the external exam to gain a course qualification.
