The National 5 Music Technology course helps students develop creativity, flexibility, enthusiasm, perseverance, independence, responsibility, and confidence through practical music-based tasks. At Banff Academy, students use Garageband to capture and edit audio for projects like Soundscapes, Radio Shows, Christmas Adverts, and Audio Books. Each project is based on a given stimulus, requiring students to record and edit audio to match it. The course also teaches the correct use of recording equipment, such as microphones and Direct Input Equipment.
Through these activities, students build technical skills and creativity in music technology, with opportunities for personalisation in their learning. They learn to express themselves through music and reflect critically on their work to improve.
