IT Solutions for Administrators - Spread-sheets, Databases and Word Processing
Communication in Administration - Searching for and extracting/downloading relevant information, Key features of reliable information, Functions of multimedia applications, Functions of desktop publishing, Electronic methods to communicate.
Successful students can progress to Higher Administration & IT in S5/6.
Largely IT based around a variety of contexts related to the world of work. Learning and teaching approaches will be pupil-centred, participative and practical in nature. There will be a balance between whole-class teaching and activity-based learning.

There is an internal assignment and an exam that will give learners an opportunity to demonstrate the following:
Using advanced IT functions in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations and desktop publishing to produce and process in formation in familiar contexts.
Skills in using technology for investigation.
Skills in using technology for electronic communication, taking account of the context, audience and purpose of communication.
Administrative skills related to organising and supporting an event.
Skills in problem solving.
The assignment is worth 70 marks and will be externally marked.
The exam is worth 50 marks and will be externally marked
