IT Solutions for Administrators - Spreadsheets, Databases and Word Processing.
Communication in Administration - Searching for and extracting/downloading relevant information, Key features of reliable information, Functions of multimedia applications, Functions of desktop publishing, Electronic methods to communicate.
Successful students can progress to National 5 Administration & IT.
Largely IT based around a variety of contexts related to the world of work. Learning and teaching approaches will be pupil-centred, participative and practical in nature. There will be a balance between whole-class teaching and activity-based learning.
There is no formal examination for this course. Students must successfully complete the Unit Assessments including the Assignment below.
Assignment - Organise and support a small-scale event to a given brief, making use of current or emerging equivalent technologies, by:
Preparing for a small-scale event, making use of appropriate technologies where necessary. Preparing simple documents to support the event, using standard templates and utilising functions of IT applications. Communicating using electronic methods, showing a basic awareness of the communication’s context, audience and purpose. Carrying out straightforward follow-up tasks, making use of appropriate technologies where necessary
