Cornish Counseling Services

Cornish Counseling Services provides mental health counseling to students for a wide range of issues, from homesickness to mood disorders to relationship issues.

The easiest way to schedule an appointment is to call a counselor at 206.726.5027 or 206.726.5047. Many students use email to connect with us as well (lkoshork@cornish.edu or jmills@cornish.edu) but please be aware that email is not considered confidential communication. The first session is a 20-30 minute screening during which we will gather some information about the concerns you have, determine if we believe we can treat your concern, and pair you with a counselor. We find that the majority of students who go through this process are paired with a Cornish counselor. Occasionally students come to us with conditions that are beyond our scope of practice. When this happens we will help students find specialists for support and treatment.

The next step is scheduling an intake session with your assigned counselor. A day or two before your intake session you will receive an email reminder that includes a link to intake forms. Please read this email carefully as it includes important information about when and how to complete these forms. Following intake sessions, you may choose to schedule recurring appointments with your counselor, or schedule appointments week to week as desired. Students can have up to 15 sessions per academic year, at the discretion of their counselor(s).

We provide both in-person sessions and telehealth sessions Monday through Friday. These sessions are considered health appointments and are confidential under Washington State Law. We generally meet with students between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with some variation depending on counselor availability. Our office is located on the first floor of the Commons building, behind the Student Life office. You will need to present your student identification to enter the building, so please be prepared to do so.

We hope you have a good year and look forward to supporting you in your personal, academic and career goals.
