Scholars Courses

2018-2019 Scholars Courses

This list is subject to change and will be updated periodically by the Undergraduate Dean's Office as necessary. Students are encouraged to refer to the information in PeopleSoft Self-Service for the most updated information on each course listed below.

SAIC frequently rotates which courses are designated for Scholars credit. A course having previously been designated for Scholars credit does not automatically mean it will count for credit in the future, or retroactively. SAIC Scholars courses emphasize a learning community where enrollment is composed primarily of Scholars. Scholars students may view the list of Scholars courses they have completed on their Academic Advisement Report, accessible via PeopleSoft Self-Service.

These courses should be taken by Scholars after they complete their first two semesters at SAIC, including their English, Research Studio, and Art History Survey Requirements.

These courses should be taken by Scholars in their first or second semester at SAIC. Senior, Junior, and Sophomore Scholars are encouraged to refer to the list above for courses to be taken after the first year.

Studio Symposia are advanced-level courses which blend a curriculum of studio practice and academic study and provide 6 credits, 3 towards studio, 3 towards Liberal Arts or Art History. All Studio Symposia will provide two 'points' towards the six-course Scholars requirement. Please note that Studio Symposia courses are open to all students on a first-come, first-serve basis, but will automatically award Scholars credit to active Scholars who enroll.
