The Record of School Achievement (RoSA) is the credential for students who leave school after Year 10 and before they receive their Higher School Certificate. The RoSA is designed to record and credential a secondary school student’s academic results up until the HSC.
To be eligible for a RoSA, a student must have:
Completed the mandatory curriculum requirements for Years 7 to 10.
Attended a government school, an accredited non-government school or a recognised school outside NSW.
Completed courses of study that satisfy Education Standards’ curriculum and assessment requirements for the RoSA.
Complied with the requirements of the Education Act.
If a student leaves:
During Year 11 – They can receive a RoSA listing the Stage 5 courses completed, the results achieved, the Preliminary Courses they participated in, and the date they left school.
At the end of Year 11 – They can receive a RoSA with their Stage 5 and Preliminary Courses completed, the results achieved, the HSC Courses they participated in, and the date they left school.
During Year 12 – They can receive a RoSA with their Stage 5 and Preliminary Course results achieved, a list of HSC Courses they participated in and the date they left school.
School Leaving Age- The official school leaving age is 17 years. Students are currently required to complete Year 10 and have a number of options from which to participate until at least age 17.
After Year 10 and until the age of 17 students must be:

In approved education or training OR
In full-time, paid employment (average 25hrs/week) OR
In a combination of these.
Transcript of Study
Students who leave school without a RoSA can access a Transcript of Study. Once the school nominates the student as a school-leaver, the student can download a PDF copy from Students Online > Certificates/eRecord until 30 June the year after you leave school.
eRecord: All Years 11 and 12 students can access their cumulative academic results and their enrolled courses and print an eRecord via their Students Online account. Once a student leaves school, they have until 30 June the year they leave school to access this document.
Recording Extra-curriculum Achievements
NESA has an online package called up2now that will allow students to collect evidence of their extracurricular achievements such as first-aid qualifications or volunteer work.
