In 6th grade, all students take Math 6*. This course is aligned to the Grade 6 standards in the MA Curriculum Framework for Mathematics.
Starting in 7th grade, students have two math course options to choose from. Students are encouraged to discuss these options with their teachers, academic counselors, and caregivers to select the math course best meets their learning profile and learning goals.
Math 7 is a grade level course that addresses the Grade 7 math standards, as determined by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. This course has a pace similar to the Math 6.
Math 7A is an accelerated course that covers both Grade 7 and Grade 8 math standards, preparing students to take Algebra I in 8th grade. This course moves at a faster pace than Math 7, due to the increased content, and requires additional time out of class to complete assignments and practice new skills.
In 8th grade, students will advance to the math course that follows the seqence from their 7th grade course.
Math 7 students will advance to Math 8
Math 7A students will advance to Algebra I.
