Why should I read in the summer?
Research has shown that just reading 4-6 books that you want to read for fun can help you keep up your reading skills so that you are ready for the next grade.
You can read literally anywhere you are. Books are perfectly portable!
It will help you become a better writer and a better thinker!
What should I read?
Read what you like! Remember that every book is not for every reader. This is meant to be fun, so you can pick!
Don't forget about your assigned Summer Reading from the English Department. You can totally count those books toward your reading challenge!
The Texas Lone Star Reading List is a list compiled each year for middle schoolers. It's very similar to the Texas Bluebonnet list you might have read from in elementary school!
