Our Biology class concerns organisms on every level, but has a focus on the cellular and molecular level. A clear understanding of the minute components, which make life possible (from protein synthesis to meiotic cell division), is immensely important to an overall appreciation of biology. The first semester, therefore, will focus on human anatomy and its cellular parts and processes. We explore the relationship between structure and function that is apparent at all levels of biological organization. You will see (particularly in the second semester) an amazing diversity of physiological adaptations through an examination of genetics, and discover that each organism is uniquely suited to the environmental challenges that it faces. This class is laden with heavy terminology (like adenosine triphosphate) and abstract concepts (such as chemical bonding), so it will be challenging!
