Dear Parents/Carers,
Last week we were delighted to welcome our Read Write Inc (phonics) consultant to the school for a development day. This was an opportunity for us to secure our implementation of this new programme further and receive coaching to ensure our teaching practice is of a high standard. I have worked with Simone our consultant for a number of years now and she was suitably impressed with how well we have implemented the programme in under a year! The standard of phonics teaching in line with Read Write Inc that she saw was very high standard and this can be seen in the strong progress of the children accessing the programme. We are well on our way to securing strong reading fluency for our children which will really help them to cope with the KS2 reading curriculum when they embark on it. A huge well done to Mrs Foster for her excellent leadership of phonics and the entire staff team who have all been living and breathing phonics since I arrived at Ardley Hill; I am so proud of them all.
A big well done to all of the children across Year 6 who took part in mock assessments last week. As always they impressed us with their focus and drive to achieve the best that they can. Thank you for supporting your child arrive at school on time for the extra focus we are providing in order to secure these core skills ready for secondary school. Thank you also for supporting your child at home with revision practice; this has been proven to really support their confidence in the assessments in May.
Finally, today all the children should be bringing home a report card which demonstrates their current effort and attainment prediction for the end of the year. We hope you find these useful to see where your child is currently working in line with national expectations.
We have lots to look forward to next week however I can't believe it is also the last week of the spring term! Where has this academic year gone. I do hope you all have a lovely Easter break with your families and loved ones.
Kind regards,
Mrs Romina Lang
